Marlo Leik, a junior at the Latin School of Chicago, started taking voice and piano lessons, and performing in recitals, at age 5. She began writing her own songs at age 12, performing them at recitals and school assemblies, and is currently working on releasing several singles in the pop ballad genre. She performs as an alto in two acapella groups at the Latin School —59 West, a selective, co-ed ensemble, and Romanettes, a soprano/alto ensemble. Last summer, she participated in the UMiami Frost Contemporary Songwriting Institute. She plans to study popular music and contemporary voice in college.
