Popular music has a long history of segregated charts, cultural appropriation, and the reinforcement of biased listening. In this session, we will examine how streaming algorithms reinforced these historic biases, the possibility of anti-racist music recommendations, and how algorithms recognize or fail to recognize actual musical attributes.
